MUSD Response to COVID-19 Coronavirus

Dear Mayer School District Families and Staff,

All school districts in the region are taking daily direction from the county and state health department agencies. In addition, the Arizona Department of Education is providing guidance and supporting information each day. Communication with neighboring districts across the region has also occurred on a daily basis.

The decision has just been made for Mayer schools to suspend all classes and school activities for the next 2 weeks. Neighboring Humboldt Unified School District and Prescott Unified School District, where many of our staff and students reside, have also made this same decision. There are numerous districts across the state which have also taken the action this weekend.  The safety and health of our students and community is the top priority at this time.

During this extended break from school, the district will continue to take all precautions to keep buildings, equipment, and transportation vehicles clean and safe for our students upon their return.

This initial 2 week suspension of school will allow for further information to be gathered so the district can decide when normal school activities can resume.

Local and state health department documents and recommendations have been posted to the district website for your viewing. Updates will be provided continually as we receive additional information and guidance.

District staff, you will receive additional correspondence on how we will operate during this break.

Thank you all for your patience as we navigate this unique crisis that affects all districts and communities throughout the state. This decision was not made lightly - we thoroughly understand the burden this places on families in our district.

Sincerely,

Dean Slaga
Superintendent
